Real Output From Real Projects

What AI plan check finds in construction drawing review

On a typical commercial project, InspectMind flags 259+ issues across all disciplines. One issue found pays for the whole check.

Learn how InspectMind supports construction drawing review and a consistent construction document QA/QC process.

47

Critical

  • Fastener can’t reach; connection unbuildable
  • Allowable area calculation off by 80K sqft
  • Fire rated corridor continuity interrupted
  • Septic tank 33% undersized vs code

89

High

  • Spec vs drawing contradiction (hold-down type)
  • Pipe undersized for actual load
  • Egress width below code minimum

78

Medium

  • Drawing vs spec dimension mismatch
  • Header schedule contradicts framing notes
  • Ramp slope exceeds ADA maximum

45

Low

  • Placeholder text not updated (XXXXX)
  • Detail reference points to wrong sheet
  • Note inconsistency across pages

Common issues we catch

Spec says one thing, drawing says another (e.g. ATS vs conventional hold-down)
Constructability: fastener length won’t reach; connection can’t be built
Pipe diameter undersized for actual load (e.g. 5 AC units on a single-unit pipe)
Septic tank 33% undersized vs code calculation
Placeholder text left in details (XXXXX instead of model number)
Allowable area calculation wrong by 80,000 sq ft (4 vs 5 stories)
Civil: outlet elevation higher than inlet; uphill flow condition
Violations of your uploaded QA checklists, internal standards, or local ordinances

You don't have to trust the AI, not one bit.

Every finding shows the exact drawing snippet and code reference. You verify in seconds. This isn't ChatGPT guessing at codes; it's purpose-built for construction plan review.

A confirmed issue that prevents downstream work can justify a review. Actual value depends on which findings require action and what the team corrects. This model does not predict or guarantee your savings.

How we calculate savings

Issue count: ~43 potential findings per 100 recorded pages in completed checks with page counts. Document types and review scopes vary.

Severity split: 14% Critical / 53% High / 33% Medium is the illustrative mix used in this model. It is not a measured accuracy or confirmed-defect rate.

Savings model: We estimate what fraction of issues at each severity would have caused a costly downstream problem (RFI, change order, rework) if not caught during design review. The assumed escape rates are 40% for Critical, 20% for High, and 10% for Medium. These are modeling assumptions, not observed outcomes.

Cost per escaped issue: Critical $10K–$50K (scales with project value — rework on a $50M project costs more than on a $1M project), High $2K–$8K (RFI + delay), Medium $1.5K (minor rework). These are scenario inputs, not customer-verified savings.

What about false positives?

AI findings can be wrong or incomplete. Review the available drawing, specification, or code evidence with your team before deciding what needs action.

Does this create liability?

InspectMind supports your team's review. Its findings do not certify compliance or replace professional judgment. We cannot promise that using AI removes liability.

What if it misses something?

AI can miss issues. Check the report's review coverage and evidence limitations, and have your team assess any gaps. A clean result does not establish compliance.

What about data privacy?

Our Trust Center explains how we handle documents, protect access, and respond to deletion requests. Review those details before uploading confidential project information.

Still on the fence?

Here are the questions teams ask before they stop losing money to missed issues.

What counts as a 'check'? What am I paying for?

What if you don't find any issues on my project?

Are re-checks extra? What if I fix issues and want to check again?

Can I buy without a phone call?

How accurate is the AI? What's the false positive rate?

Is my project data secure and confidential?

Does this replace licensed engineering review?

Can I use my local building codes or ordinances?

What about addenda or revised sets?

Do you support scanned PDFs?

Who do I contact if I need help?

My set has duplicate drawings (e.g. same civil set for each building). Does that affect pricing?
